Pre-Season Strength and Conditioning

Venetians Netball Club is pleased to announce they will be offering an exclusive pre-season strength and conditioning program with Mandy at MH Performance for 30 athletes.

We have been lucky enough to have Mandy come out and do some work on the courts with our junior squad in the past and have decided to make strength and conditioning a priority for our athletes in 2020. This will include sessions on the courts for athletes provided free of charge by Venetians Netball Club and for the first time the option to join a private 10-week program in the pre-season. The cost for the program is $25 per week or $250 for the program and Venetians Netball Club will be using the money we won from Cadbury Fundraising to subsidise $100 per athlete who joins the program.

More information can be found here.

Please contact Sian Geldenhuys at president@venetiansnetballclub.com.au to register.

📌Netball athlete Amelia performing Box Jumps for vertical jumping power as part of her strength program💪 At MHP we always do the most explosive movement first when the nervous system is fresh. As these exercises place high demand on the nervous system to achieve maximum force and power🔥 You can see how focused Amelia is in her movement and how she is moving with intent. I speak to my athletes every session about how important moving with intent is if they want to be faster and more powerful. The intent is to move as fast as possible (whilst still maintaining technical competency) This improves the firing speed and activation of big motor units (we want to activate the big ones as they are the most powerful) however we need a sequence of small ones to fire first but the quicker we can activate these bigger motor neurons the faster and more explosive the athlete will be💪 We also want to do these early in the program as appose to doing them at the end when the athlete is fatigued. Fatigue is a terrible environment to build strength, speed and power (quote I learnt from @coachwoodford) that I use daily😂 Mandy x

Congratulations to our very own Kylie Pougnault and her 14&U Metro League team. WDNA had 3 teams take out 3 grand finals in the inaugural year of Metro League. Well done to our association!
