Return to Netball
We are very pleased to be sharing with you all, some good news regarding the 2020 Winter Season at WDNA. We ask that you read the following information very carefully.
The current information is aligned with the Netball WA Roadmap and the WA State Government’s Roadmap for easing of Covid-19 restrictions. This information will change as the situation evolves and we move through the different phases of easing restrictions. We will update this page when new information becomes available.
It is expected that games will commence during phase three which is estimated to start four weeks after the introduction of phase two. Wanneroo Districts Netball Association’s operation is restricted by both the State Government restrictions as well as restrictions that the City of Wanneroo have in place.
The commencement date is the 3rd July and the final game of the season to be played on the 5th September. This will be followed by a two week finals series for age groups from 12 & under to open. The grand final will occur on the 19th September as originally planned. This means that the original 15 game fixture has been decreased to 10 games and there will be games played through the July school holidays with no byes.
There is also changes to the proposed times for time slots. These are to ensure that all teams are able to play in line with restrictions around mass gatherings.
5.15 pm – Year 2 and Year 3
6.45 pm – 13 & under
8.30 am – Year 4 and 11 & under
10.00 am – Year 5 and 12 & under
11.30 am – 15 & under
1.00 pm – 18 & under
2.30 pm – open
4.00 pm – open
All games will be centrally timed with 12 minute quarters for the first five games only. From game 6, teams will be responsible for timing duties. There will be a 3-minute break at quarter time, and a 5-minute break at half time.
During phase four, the only individuals permitted to enter the venue will be players, coaches and officials (manager, volunteer timer/scorer and volunteers assisting WDNA). We understand that this may be daunting for our younger players and we will organise meeting points for players to meet with their coach and manager. Their coach/manager will then safely guide them to and from their game and ensure they are collected at the end. As soon as we enter phase four, spectators will again be permitted to enter and watch.
As will continue our current protocols and training on the same courts during phase 4. As soon as phase five commences we will then resume our usual Wednesday night training as noted on our website team announcements. Can members ensure the following protocols are followed every week:
1. bring your own drink bottle and towel.
2. No sharing of food, water or asthma inhalers.
3. Arrive no more than 10 minutes early.
4. Santise your hands prior to and at the end of training.
5. Leave the courts promptly following your training session.
6. Do not attend training if you are unwell.
