Team Lists

We aim to ensure that the grading process is fair and consistent with the best interests of the players and Venetians in mind. Ideally, each team should comprise of 10 players which consists of, 3 shooters, 3 defenders and 4 midcourters but this might not always be the case.

This year we used a combination of experienced club graders, new club graders as well as independent graders from a range of other clubs and associations. Following each physical grading session, our grading committee met to process the notes and recommendations as well as followed up with the graders and previous coaches when necessary. The grading committee was led by Kylie Pougnault (Life Member) and Haylee Klup (Development Coordinator), Jenni Vile` (President), Zara Borrell (Committee Member) Kahlea Horton-French (Life Member), Jaemie Duncan (Player and Coach), Katie Green (Player and Coach), David Klup (Coach) and Troy Arnold (Coach). The club would like to thank these members for the enormous amount of time they have put into this process.

We would also like to thank our independent graders:

The competitiveness for positions in teams this year was huge and we want to remind members that when we determining the placement of players we can only compare between players in the same court area. We also use the following attributes to guide our decisions;

(a) ball handling skills

(b) footwork

(c) speed and agility

(d) attacking skills

(e) defending skills (four phases of defence)

(f) shooting style and accuracy

(g) fitness

(h) versatility

(i) ability to play as part of a team

(j) sportsmanship, effort and attitude

(k) commitment to the values of Venetians

All players should be proud of their efforts over the past few weeks and we are confident in the decisions that have been made to ensure that all teams are well balanced.

Thank you to all our members for their patience and support during the grading period. It is now complete, and we have allocated all players to a team.
